There’s just something about a gorgeous book, isn’t there? Never mind the old adage: don’t judge a book by it’s cover. I’m always entranced by the artwork on a book jacket. Just look at these newly-illustrated classics:
The covers are embroidered! Which genius thought of that? I’ve read all of them, but I want to buy them all over again because these covers are so beautiful.
Maybe that’s why publishers are starting to pay attention, and big bucks, to design once again. This New York Times article hails a new age in the era of jacket art. Publishers are hoping to entice readers who own eReaders (like me) to buy hard copies of books. I tell you, if they all are as beautiful as the ones above, I’m in.
